Who Is Comfort Clinic?

My name is Gail Nic Eoghain MVB GP Cert SAM, and I am the founder of Comfort Clinic. After more than 20 years in small animal practice, including 12 years co-owning and running Kilcoole Vets in Wicklow,  I am thrilled to launch this novel approach to pain management. During my career, I have specialised in pets, and have gained post graduate qualifications in Small Animal Medicine and Veterinary Acupuncture. Over my years I have developed a passion for improving the quality of life for pets with chronic conditions, and love seeing my grey muzzled patients living their best lives.
Operating outside the constraints of a general veterinary practice, my vision for Comfort Clinic is a relaxing experience for pets and their family, free from time pressures. Although we can't eliminate all pain in all patients, my goal is to improve pain management to enable your pet to live as happy a life as possible.

"Chloe, my 11 year  old Labrador  was slowing down on walks and sometimes reluctant to jump into the car.  Dogs can be very stoic and I had concerns that Chloe may be in pain but unable to let me know. As there was nothing specific that I could point to and consult her regular vet about I wanted her to see a vet with the time and expertise to consider her whole body and to help her live her best life for as long as possible.  Chloe had recently had her regular vaccination and wellness check with her usual vet and at this point I booked an initial consultation with Gail at The Comfort Clinic.

Our first consultation with Gail was very thorough going into detail about all of Chloe's past injuries and illnesses and  taking time to understand my concerns and what I hoped to achieve.  We also talked about Chloe's exercise routine, her diet and her life in general. Prior to the consultation I had sent Gail a number of videos of Chloe running, walking, going up and down stairs, playing etc. for Gail to evaluate.  Gail gave Chloe a  physical check, manipulating all of her limbs and testing for areas of weakness or pain. The good news was that generally Chloe was in very good shape for her age and not in any obvious pain or discomfort and with good muscle strength in all of her limbs.  This in itself was a huge relief to me

Following this we decided that 3 sessions of acupuncture may be beneficial  and we did these 10 days or so apart. I  was somewhat apprehensive as to how Chloe would deal with the process of acupuncture but Gail was very calm, professional and reassuring and Chloe relaxed into the session.  The relaxing effect seemed to last most of the day as on our way home she would fall into a deep sleep.

The acupuncture sessions have been beneficial for Chloe and I can see a difference in how she is enjoying her walks and exercise and, equally importantly, we have established a base-line for managing her limbs as she ages with minimal medication or other interventions.

At the end of our series of visits both Chloe and I felt that we were saying goodbye to a friend but I am sure that I will seek Gail's advice and assistance again in the future

I would not hesitate to recommend a consultation with Gail and you can rest assured that she has your pet's well-being at the forefront of her considerations"
